Alex Steen and Kris Russell Return
The Blues received some great news right as their road trip wraps up - Alex Steen and Kris Russell are ready to play. Steen, absent since December 27th, is finally fully healthy from a concussion while Russell, absent since Febraury 23rd, also has recovered from a concussion. The duo's return to health gives the Blues an immediate upgrade.
Welcome back Alex Steen, you've been greatly missed. Steen's speed, work ethic and determination to get the puck have been tough to replace. The Blues have mostly done a solid job while he has been out but their game has been exposed the past couple weeks. With any luck a healthy Steen means an improved St. Louis offense.
Russell's return also comes at an ideal time as two defenseman, Kent Huskins and Ian Cole, both are coming off a couple rough performances. While his time with the Blues has been brief, I've been impressed with what Russell has shown this season. He is active and quick to join the rush, adding another offense threat for the Blues. He isn't the biggest or most physical defenseman but he is able to get the job done while giving the Blues a bit of added speed.
With the playoffs growing ever closer it's a joy to see the Blues getting healthy. With any luck, Matt D'Agostini and Andy McDonald will be cleared in the very near future.
