While the St. Louis community was still breaking down the Jaroslav Halak deal, John Davidson pulled the trigger again. This time the Blues are sending prospect Julian Talbot to Colorado in exchange for T.J. Hensick. Not a major deal, or even that noteworthy of a deal, especially when compared to the news that broke earlier this afternoon. Hensick skated in seven games at the NHL level last season, scoring one and assisting on two, but made big waves in the AHL in 2009-10 with 20 goals and 50 assists in just 58 games. On the flip side, Talbot skated in Peoria for the last three seasons and recorded 32 points over 76 games in 2009-10. Reaction: Two trades in one seemingly average Thursday afternoon. Needless to say, these deals (mainly Halak) caught the entire hockey world off guard. The Blues will now have company for T.J. Oshie in Hensick, but it is yet to be seen if he will start the year at the NHL level or start things off with Peoria. That battle will likely be decided come training camp.
